Sydney Pole Poster facts you may want to know!

Pole posters are visually aesthetic street posters with a culturally relevant or community oriented message.
Securely affixed - high, straight, plenty of tape - to thousands of ‘tolerated’ light and telegraph poles on Sydney's arterial and secondary roads - everyday, every week.  Our distribution teams are second to none.
Our print turnaround is usually <24hours. UV stable, CMYK (colour) printing on  320mm x 900mm PEFC paper.

Are Pole Posters legal? Sydney Posters does not have approval from any State Authority to display pole posters. We listen for and are proactive to the concerns of the wider community and all tiers of Government.
We have decades of experience and awesome teams of trained employed and accountable distributors.

It is our experience and belief that Pole Posters are more likely to be tolerated if;
Avoid sensitive areas* inc; CBD zones, the Cahill Expressway, Bridge approaches, Heritage areas.  Engaging, aesthetic and deliver community relevant PG rated images, messages and graphics. Properly affixed by trained, accountable, experienced and employed distributors.  Primarily affixed to poles with wires or plain steel light poles. We avoid traffic and 'smart' poles. Are proactively cleaned and recycled, and are not over prolific or left to decay. Promote music, art, culture, community and/or Sydney’s long suffering ‘Night Time Economy’. Remain affordable to emerging artists and smaller venues, and the limited ‘good’ poles shared. Vibrant, creative, relevant. Engaging and informing Sydneysiders and visitors alike.

*We avoid postering Council owned 'smart poles' - it aggravates them. Additionally distributors can be monitored on CCTV, easily traced and fined and more often than not the posters are removed within hours. We don't poster; tollways, bridges, significant infrastructure. We avoid hospitals, places of worship and houses with pretty flower beds. Please don't hesitate to read https://legislation.nsw.gov.au/view/html/inforce/current/epi-2021-0723#ch.3 or your Local Council DCP if you’d like to learn more.

Areas, Lead Times, Quantities… From Bondi to Balgowlah, Ryde, Parramatta, Westmead, Lansvale, Bankstown, Beverly Hills, Blakehurst, Eastgardens and most arterial roads inbetween. Many of the roads we poster carry >100k vehicles daily! https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/operations/roads-and-waterways/corporate-publications/statistics/traffic-statistics/traffic-volume

We collate bookings geographically into runs. Some runs have rigid timeframes while others are flexible and some are specials. City runs are on a 7 day cycle while the suburbs usually 14 days. Although lead times of less than 24hours can be catered to, albeit a a higher cost, booking a week prior to commencement, ie 4 weeks out from your event, will greatly assist us ensure you receive best coverage possible. If your campaign requires postering areas not in our regular runs we advise caution and additional fees apply.  We don’t claim to own the poles, we do claim to share them equitably and always will. Simply put, where you see pole posters is where we have found them to be tolerated, and we can display yours there, just ask! Saturation is possible but generally fleeting.
Suggested quantities for light to medium pole poster campaign over 7 - 10 days. 50 - 150 Eastern Subs Rushcutters Bay, to Bondi, Eastgardens, and Paddington. 50 - 150 Inner City Kings Cross, Darlinghurst, Paddington, Surry Hills. 50 - 150 Inner South Redfern, Waterloo, Alexandria to the Domestic Airport and Mascot. 50 - 200 Inner West Newtown, Marrickville, Sydenham, Enmore, Stanmore, Petersham, Leichhardt, Hurlstone Park, Summer Hill, Rozelle and in between. 100 - 200 South inc ‘Sutho’ Kyeemagh, Sans Souci, Wolli Creek,Rockdale Kogarah Blakehurst. 150 - 300 Middle Suburbs Beverly Hills, Bankstown, Campsie, Croydon, Burwood, Strathfield, Homebush, Rhodes, Ryde, and Drummoyne. 200 - 600 MidWest Sydney Flemington, Lidcombe, Parra, Westmead, Wentworthville, Merrylands, Lansvale 20 - 60 North Seaforth, Balgowlah, Dee Why* and Meadowbank.

Sydney City and most Eastern Suburbs Councils engage contractors to promptly remove pole posters, usually <24hours. This is preferable to the draconian alternatives. Without further aggravating Councils our experienced distributors use extensive tactics to prolong or refresh your message in these LGAs.

Generally posters displayed in our ‘city’ runs; Oxford Exp,Woollahra Council, Eastgardens, Mascot, throughout the entire Inner West, Parramatta Rd Burwood, Victoria Rd Drummoyne and over to Pittwater Rd Balgowlah, have a 7 day lifespan before we cover anew. Though many posters may still be in date and look great, we have no alternative than to cover every poster in the city runs after 7 days as there are insufficent tolerated poles to enable pole posters to stay longer. To encourage continued tolerance of pole posters we avoid residential zones.

Please consider; increase your ROI easily and free by requesting posters be affixed “In the ‘burbs”. Posters affixed in areas outside of the city runs (outside 10km radius of the CBD; west of Burwood to Westmead, south of the Cooks River to the Georges River, and north of the Harbour and Parramatta River), are generally (only) covered every 14 days. That’s double the lifespan of our city runs! Phenomenal value!

Printing… Our pole poster printing is both great value and fast! You can provide print ready PDF art or we can create a basic design from $50 or complex from $60phr. Please provide print ready art as PDF @ 100%, 314mm x 894mm, CMYK, no bleeds or (crop) marks. Our pole posters (320mm x 900mm) have a 3mm white margin. We print on Spicers 90gsm uncoated Pacesetter Extra, PEFC certified. For single art campaigns of 1500 or more and with a lead time >4 days our trade printers can offset print your posters, offering a saving of up to 15% on large campaigns.
Environmentally conscious… with deeper pockets? Our employed distributors are extremely mindful to ensure street pole posters do not become eyesores! Pole posters bring life and art and 'a vibe' to Sydney's streets, informing locals and visitors alike. They should never dominate the landscape but merge into it like thousands of other images and objects. Though we cut, clean and recycle 100s of poles a week, the cost to clean more is too onerous if pole posters are to remain affordable to emerging artists and Sydney’s vital live music venues. However for an additional $1.30 per pole we’ll cut clean your old posters and supply before and after photos of each cleaned pole. Good Onyas!
Fine Print… We do not simply 'smash 'em up'. Runs are planned, staff are trained. Experience has taught us indiscriminate placement of pole posters and failure to clean or cover old posters is a recipe for unwanted scrutiny by State Authorities. From the smallest band to the biggest festival, every client gets equal billing. Each week we’ll email you photo reports of 50-90% of your recently displayed posters. A cleaning surcharge applies for pole posters larger than standard as these will jutt out when covered (so are cut to avoid becoming unsightly) and for postering of non regular areas. We affix two identical posters to many poles. We do this; Only if each poster will be legible. ie No 'dumb doubles’.  To avoid expanding the footprint of runs beyond what we believe will be tolerated. It is not economically viable to predominantly affix one poster. Sticky tape is what would be seen if not for a second poster and to create a greater perception of 'blanket coverage’. The information contained herein is general in nature, DYOR. It is not uncommon for our employed distributors to be  discouraged by NSW Police via way of $440 fines for Graffiti offences and require wages commensurate with the risks, vehicle running costs and expectations involved. The timely, fair, methodical and professional placement of your posters is, after the safety and well being of our employees, our #1 priority.
